If you ask any PC enthusiast
what type of memory they have in their PC the likely response
would be Corsair or OCZ. Both manufacturers make great performance
memory and have done for some time. Recently though more
manufacturers are branching out into the performance segment
and today we have modules from two of these manufacturers
up for review. The first is Crucial who have been synonymous
with quality, stable memory for years. The second is Ultra.
We’ve looked at Ultra products before on Driverheaven
and found them to be generally excellent.
Ultra PC3200 XL
The Ultra DDR comes packaged in the now standard
plastic container. If you’ve bought memory in the
past couple of years chances are it was packaged the same
way.

driverheaven uses custom javascripts
to display high resolution images, some software may class
these as "popups"
On the reverse side of the
package you can see the details of the Lifetime Warranty
that Ultra offer which is an excellent selling point.

The sticks themselves are
surrounded by a metal heat spreader which covers all of
the memory chips. One side of the sticks are emblazoned
with the Ultra logo…

…the other with an sticker
showing some of the information on the product…

What none of the packaging
or stickers tell you is the memory timings, in the case
of the ultra the timings are 2-2-2-5 which puts it right
up against the performance memory from OCZ and Corsair supplied
with the same timings.
