When summarising an MP3
player there are really only a few points which
are important. So we will take them in turn.
Is it easy to use?
Absolutely. As with all new devices there is a
period where the user has to learn the menu structure
and functions. After about 1 hour of use we found
the player to be perfectly usable and the button
functions easy to remember. The clarity of the
screen and layout was also beneficial. There are
also some nice featrues such as the sleep function
which turns the player off after a set amount
of time. Finally with regards to ease of use the
player is recognised by Windows XP without any
additional drivers, just plug in and its ready
to use.
Is is compatible
with widely available formats/software?
Again the answer is a yes. As we discussed earlier
in the article the Super Talent player can be
used with its own software and with Windows Media
Player 10. Drag and Drop to the device also works
for music (MP3/WMA) and any other file time for
storage/transport.
How is the sound
quality?
As with all players the quality of the playback
is entirely dependant on the quality of the source
file, after that it becomes really subjective
and down to the end user. Having used a Sony player
for the past year or so I have to say I was perfectly
happy with the audio quality provided by the Super
Talent player and something which was particularly
good is that the player has a high maximum volume
which is great when listening to audio on the
train.
Summary:
It's small, its incredibly light and its a breeze
to use. Additionally, it's very attractively priced.
