| PROMETEIA MACH II |

Well with all the eye candy out of the way, we will get down to the nitty gritty here, just how does this beast let your CPU overclock? After much toying with voltages and FSB this was the maximum stable speed reported below, unfortunately this took 1.8 volts to get stable and even with Mach II im not sure id like to run 24/7 at these speeds on a £300 Northwood, a much healthier 4200mhz was achievable with 1.75 volts and this would be the setting i would run 24/7. As a matter of interest I was able to post up to 4.7ghz but it was not stable - perhaps with the new Mach II GT coming out soon this might be possible - hopefully ill have the chance to find out. With the incredible OCZ 4400 ram running at 1:1 I never even had to look at altering the these settings to 5:4, nice to just overclock and leave at 1:1 without worrying about the ram holding the system up.
Now we have primed a stable clock figure we can try running a few benchies like Sandra and the ever faithful Pcmark02
Ive never seen 10,000+ in pcmark on a CPU ever, nice to record this moment for my files ! Sandra is widely known as a great universal benching tool and I put the overclocked system through its paces Sandra Multimedia results 32k+ in integer and 45k+ in float, pretty amazing scores and only achievable on the Mach II, my watercooling wouldnt let this processor boot past 3.9ghz stable. Sandra Arithmetic results Just a shade from 13k in the dhystone ALU test (12947) and 5270/9306 in the Whetstone tests. Impressive by every defination of the word.
I also ran my custom Driverheaven Photoshop script details of which you can see here and completed the standardised 40 megabyte test file in 48 seconds. this is incredible as you can see from our FX53 test 66 seconds was recorded. Even when the FX was overclocked 61 seconds was the fastest. Hopefully in the future ill have the chance to try an FX53 in the Mach II unit to see if 3ghz+ is possible. As most of you know Driverheaven no longer runs 3dmarks in any of its tests due to the massive amount of debate on driver sets and "who is cheating who", but for the sake of interest I did run 3dmark01se on the system to see the figures I recorded. 24,435 was the final score I was able to reach. 3dmark03, I recorded 7,899. I was running an ATI beta driver set, details of which I cant of course give, but I felt it was worthwhile to state in passing.
Next: Final Thoughts
