Not much point in running
a barrage of tests at stock speed without including the
maximum overclock figures with ram created for the overclocking
market, so lets get the overclocking section out of the
way first.
We had no real issues overclocking
the PC-5000 once we dropped the processor multiplier. With
timings of 3-4-4-10-1T we were able to hit 270 Mhz or DDR540
with no errors in Memtest+. Loosening the timings to 3-4-4-10-2T
we achieved 335 Mhz or DDR670 with no errors. Very impressive
results. Pushing the memory past 3.0 volts did not seem
to gain any further overclocking ability so for testing
I left the voltages at 3. Ive read mixed reports from people
who achieved higher overclocks with the DFI voltage pushing
the ram to the motherboard limits (as we found with the
VX) however I did not experience this. Dividers used: 1:1,
9:10, 5:6 and 3:4.
We managed to push the processor
to its limits of 291x9, recording 2619mhz. Over the following
pages ill be showing figures at stock speeds along with
overclocked 1T(262) and 2T(291) results at our CPU's limits.
