Product Description
The Media Reader is supplied in a clear plastic packet which gives the consumer a complete view of the product. On the back there is a list of supported cards and we can see the bundled three foot extension cable. After opening the packet we find a small warranty booklet and on the inside of the cardboard leaflet is a list of instructions on how to use the unit.
Kingston’s Media Reader essentially has the same design as many similar devices, the cards are inserted into the front of the unit and a USB cable (two inch - hardwired) is present on the rear. Where the device differs a little is that the internal section can be moved forwards and backwards. This means that when a large card such as CompactFlash is inserted the inside slides back and the card is protected and not taking up any further space.
On the top of the device is a small square section, this assists in sliding the panel forwards and backwards but also has a small red LED which lights up when a flash card is present. On the underneath of the casing are two rubber strips which make the device less prone to moving on a desk.
The cards supported by the unit are: CompactFlash Type I and II, SD, SDHC, miniSD, miniSDHC, microSD, microSDHC, MMC, MMCmobile (DV RS-MMC), MMCplus, MMCmicro, RS-MMC, Microdrive, Memory Stick Micro, Memory Stick , Memory Stick PRO, Memory Stick Duo, Memory Stick PRO Duo.
