was left to idle in a room with a temperature of

the idle temps were taken. Following this PCmark
and Prime95 were run for 30minutes and the load

Before we
look at the Nautilus performance it should be noted
that the AMD stock cooler which came bundled with
our FX-60 is an exceptionally quiet and efficient
model. It even rivals the Arctic Cooling Freezer64
so the air-cooling scores are about as low as you
will get on any air cooling.
With the
above in mind we look at the low fan speed results
of the Nautilus and see that at idle the unit manages
to knock 10 degrees of the temperature of the FX-60
bringing it down to only 8 degrees more than the
test room temperature. Looking next at load speeds
we see that the reduction in temperature is now
12 degrees and is in fact 6 degrees lower under
load than idle temps on air cooling.
Flicking
the Nautilus speed selector to high bumps
up the fan speed by 500rpm and further reduces the
temperature by 1 degree at idle and 2 degrees at
load. We did feel that at the higher rpm the unit
was a little louder than the stock AMD cooling however
part of the reason for this is the fans are not
sealed away in the case.
