Video Playback

With more and more video being released in high definition/quality formats the playback of such content is becoming a much more common task to perform on the average PC. Whilst the quality of these files is excellent compared to non HD content the processing power to decode the video before playing it onscreen is quite high and therefore the better the CPU the less chance there will be of a reduction in playback smoothness, especially when performing a few tasks at the same time as watching the video. Another beneficial aspect to a PC can be a graphics card which assists with video decoding; Nvidia’s 8800 series is one such product so let’s take a look at how it can assist with video playback.

In video playback both the XFX and BFG cards perform identically to all of the other 320Mb GTS cards we have reviewed to date. Shown above are the performance figures for the range, all of which are very impressive. If the card is being installed in a system which will be playing back high definition content then the 8800GTS will be very beneficial to the overall performance.
