Until ATI released the X800XL the Geforce 6800 GT was unchallenged
as the best bang for buck card available. With a 16 pipeline
design the GT only differs from the Ultra model in clock
speeds. When you consider that many of the GT’s on
the market will overclock to Ultra specifications
and
beyond its clear why its sold in huge volumes. Asus
are a company who always impress us with their releases
and so we were more than happy to accept their 6800GT as
a review product…so much so in fact we accepted two…
Package
Something we’ve come to expect from Asus graphics
cards is distinctive packaging, the 6800GT is no different.
As well as being huge the box is emblazoned with bright
and reflective designs.

Driverheaven uses java scripting to
display high resolution images. This can be classified
as "popups" to some software.
Box quality has of course no bearing
on the quality of the product inside however it does create
a good first impression, in this regard Asus always deliver.
Flipping up the lid of the box reveals
your first look at the N6800GT as well as some details
of the extra functionality contained in your bundle.

More of the same on the rear…

Bundle
Never a company to skimp on the bundled
extras, Asus don’t disappoint with the N6800GT.
Included with your graphics card is:
Webcam + Stand
Svideo Cable
2x DVI > VGA connectors
CD Carry Case
Manual
Driver/Utility CD
Joint Operations full game
Molex > PCI Express power converter

For those overclockers out there Asus
have included their SmartDoctor utility on the driver
CD. Smartdoctor is probably the quickest and easiest way
to get that little bit extra performance out of the N6800GT.
As with most overclocking utility’s it’s a
case of moving some sliders until you reach the cards
maximum settings.

Out only issue with SD is the memory
slider was already at maximum when the card was at stock.
Otherwise a handy utility.
