Corsair PC2-8500
2GB
When Corsair first came
to market with some PC-8500 we took a look at
their 1 GB kit (2x512mb). At the time it was the
fastest DDR2 available and ran flawlessly on our
Asus P5WD2-E motherboard at 1066 MHz. Not much
has changed with the product we are reviewing
today, it’s still rated at 1066mhz with
timings of 5-5-5-15 and runs on a voltage of 2.2v
The TRC setting isn’t as low as the GeIL
sticks out of the box and is set to 22 for 800mhz
and 30 for 1066mhz. Corsair are still using their
black Aluminium heat spreader which adds a classy
look to the product.
As with the majority of
high specification memory Corsair’s PC-8500
is more than happy to run at 4-4-4-12 when set
to 800mhz, SPD timings are set for 800mhz and
533(1066mhz) at 5-5-5-18. Where Corsair's memory
does differ from many other brands is in their
use of EPP. EPP is an enhanced version of SPD
and allows memory to be much better configured
when used with a board which also supports EPP.
