Abit
AN9 Fatality
When
we first received the GeIL memory the recommendation
was that we should use it in Asus’s M2N32
motherboard which we were more than happy to do.
Unfortunately the results were less impressive
than first expected. When looking for an alternative
product to use we were offered Abit's An9 32x
SLI Fatality board. Abit’s Fatality range
is designed for the performance enthusiast and
is therefore an ideal match for both memory products
being reviewed today.
Packaging
and Bundle
The Fatality An9 32x comes
supplied in a box which certainly doesn’t
give you much indication of the product inside.
This changes when you open the lid and see that
various board components are on display as well
as some detailed product information.
Abit’s
bundle is always very thorough and the Fatality
AN9 is no exception. After opening the main box
and removing the motherboard there are two smaller
cardboard boxes which contain the numerous manuals
and cables.
The
above picture shows the plethora of cables Abit
bundle, this includes enough SATA cables to build
several systems, quality rounded IDE cables and
extra USB and fire wire ports.
Possibly
the most interesting part of the whole bundle
isn’t shown above and that is the unique
extra cooling that Abit bundle with the Fatality
AN932. As this is a SLI board Abit have seen fit
to include a fan which attaches to the PCI brackets
and blasts air down on to the graphics cards.
The
final bundled components in this package are Abit's
sound solution and SLI connector. Rather than
attaching the audio connectors to the motherboard
as other manufacturers do Abit provide a PCI express
audio output card.
