Once the NV120 was installed and secured, it was time to start putting the motherboard and system back together.  Upon doing so, another problem raised its head.

You may have noticed the small white controller that came with the package.  This controller has to connect to the fan and to a power connection on the motherboard.  It’s also essential for the wiring to come through the PC case so that the controller can be accessed from the exterior.  It was this routing of the wiring that posed a problem.

Fortunately, in my long experience with computers, I have a good ‘junk drawer’ filled with various items either not used or leftover from prior endeavors.  I had to take a trip to my junk drawer to locate a “Pass Through Bracket” that could be installed into an empty add in slot on the back of the case.  Shown below is what I’m referring to:

I’m quite surprised that APACK didn’t include something like this in the package.  This makes it so simple to route the wiring from inside the case to the controller outside without having to mod the case or take a risk of damaging the insulation on the wiring by trying to pass it through a small crack in the side panel.

In this photo you can see how the wiring has been routed through the “pass through bracket” just above the video card.

The install is now complete although care should be taken to tie cables near the CPU cooler to the case as the NV120 has open fan blades.

The NV120 puts out a nice blue glow when in operation.
