Packaging and Extras
The VF1000 LED is packaged in a compact box and is protected by a layer of plastic. The front is ideal as it gives us a full view of the heatsink and fan and on the rear of the box is an additional window which displays the smooth copper GPU plate.
This ensures that consumers know exactly what the important parts of the cooler look like, it is also reassuring to see that the back of the box has various images and technical specifications that give a comprehensive overview. The ZM-RHS88 packaging is also shown, it features a clear picture of the product and there is little more we would like to see for such a basic item. Despite this Zalman have gone an extra step and on the back of the box there are some clear diagrams which explain how the installation process works.
Inside the two boxes we find various screws, washers and other items which are required to install the two components. There are, as always, tubes of Zalmans own thermal paste and a couple of stickers. The manuals provided by Zalman feature reasonably clear instructions and whilst they could do with being larger in size they do not make the installation process difficult.
Probably the most important component contained in the two bundles would be the small black box which is visible above. This is a control module which allows the user to vary the fanspeed of the cooler from 1400rpm to 2500rpm, installation of this unit is optional and if not used the fan will plug directly into a 3pin connector on the systems motherboard.
