With the yearly update of Colin McRae Rally probably in the works CMR 2005 is one of the older games in our test suite. Graphically though it’s up there with the best of the racing games you can find on the market and so it’s still a valid test.

Running both card’s though the engine we see that the X850 series card has a large advantage over the 6800 based card. This has always been the case in CMR and even though drivers have had a real chance to mature the Nvidia card still falls behind at all resolutions.

NOTE: The stuttering we’ve experienced on the 6800 series in the past was still evident on Forceware 71.84. We contacted Derek Perez at Nvidia recently regarding this bug and he informed us that they will be looking at a fix in the near future. As CMR is a game we will be continuing to benchmark we’ll keep you updated on the progress of any fix.
