Titan Computer Co is one of the oldest manufacturers of PC cooling products. They established by the name of Sogic Computer Co back in 1989 and then changed the name to Titan Computer Co in 1992. In 1995, they launched their own factory in Taiwan and they rapidly expanded their offices in Europe and America as well as their manufacturing facilities and number of personnel over the following years.

Titan is a company which stayed loyal to their initial aim; researching and manufacturing cooling components. Even nowadays, they offer ever single cooling product that you can imagine, but only cooling related products whatsoever. Over the past year, Titan released many new high-class products which are aimed to the enthusiasts market and they are discernable by their female names. Today we are going to have a look on two high end notebook cooling pads, the Serina series.

The Serina series consists of 2 notebook cooling pads. Both may look virtually identical, but they are not, although their cooling properties are. The G2TB/D is a simple cooling pad, meant only to keep your notebook cool, where the G2TB/A is more like a complete docking station, with an integrated All-In-1 card reader and USB hub. Let us have a look on their specifications and features.

As you can see from the features and specifications of the two notebook cooling pads, they are virtually identical except from the G2TB/A featuring the integrated card reader, 3 port USB hub and being a little heavier than the simpler G2TB/D version of Serina of course. Their design and cooling properties remain the same. Of course the power consumption specifications are for the fans only, which are the same in both cooling pads, however the G2TB/A will consume more power of course if you are using the card reader and/or if you attach USB devices to it.

The packaging of both coolers is virtually identical as well, with minor differences between the two products. The G2TB/A packaging had a plastic handle on top, which the G2TB/D did not, and the packaging of the G2TB/D comes wrapped in plastic. And of course there is a sticker at the rear of the packaging, stating the exact model. The packaging is well designed, considering that the cooling pad does not require any special protection itself so the packaging is mostly useful for drawing attention while on a store shelf. The main theme of the packaging is ‘Serina’ of course, a very charming artwork of a (somewhat underdressed) lady. I am sure that this is enough to draw a good amount of attention inside a store. By opening the boxes, you will find the notebook cooling pads carefully supported inside a piece of plastic, separated from their bundled items.

The bundle is a little different between the two coolers of course, as the G2TB/A requires more power and an USB connection with the notebook, while the G2TB/D only requires power for the fans. Hence, there is only a single cable in the packaging of the G2TB/D, a USB cable which takes power from the laptop for the fans. The G2TB/A on the other hand has an USB data cable and an AC to DC power adapter included. The USB data cable is meant to connect the pad with the laptop in order to utilize the card reader and USB hub, while the AC to DC power adapter is going to provide the cooling pad the necessary power. So while the G2TB/A will not burden your notebook’s battery, it requires an AC power source to fully function, where the G2TB/D can be used anywhere as it is powered from your notebook itself.
