Doom 3
was perhaps the most awaited first person shooter
game in 2004. It was one of the most demanding
games with phenomenal graphics at the time of
its release. The game also has an included timedemo
which we run as a benchmark. We always used the
Ultra detail settings. Here we see that the low
latencies do make a difference while gaming, as
the modules can perform better. Of course when
we overclock the system more, the total performance
climbs up as well.

F.E.A.R. is perhaps the
most GPU taxing first person shooter game available.
The nice thing about this game is that it includes
a benchmark which not only measures the FPS across
the timedemo, but also their distribution percentage.
Here again we see that the low latency settings
can sustain a better framerate, but not necessarily
perform better at all times as well, since the
average framerate is lower.

NFS : Most
Wanted is a popular street racing game with cutting
edge visual effects. Unfortunately, it does not
include a timedemo so we have to use FRAPS this
time round. We chose a 3-lap circuit run, so that
the length of the race and the repeat of the same
lap 3 times would give us more consistent results.
For the record, we are running a modified Mercedes
CLK-500 in the Ironwood Estate circuit stage.
The details are set to average and the resolution
to 1280x1024. Here once again we find the RAM
performing more solid with lowered latencies or
when overclocked.
