Packaging and the modules

The modules are supplied in simple plastic packaging, just enough to offer the modules some basic protection during transportation. The small weight of the modules has them needing little protection during shipping, but they won’t be able to withstand heavy abuse in that kind of package.

If it wasn’t for the heatspreader, the SuperTalent DDR3 modules could be mistaken for ordinary OEM RAM modules because of their green PCB. The only difference between them and the 1333MHz kit which we reviewed a few weeks back is that our new kit is single sided, carrying 8x128MB chips each. On the front the large chrome letters form the company logo all across the heatspreader. There are no chips or heatspreader at the rear of the modules, only a sticker with the part number of the kit and the basic specifications of the modules. We received the W1600UX2G7 2GB DDR3 kit, rated for 7/7/7/18 operation at 1600MHz.
