Close
your eyes and picture two 7950GTX graphics cards,
an SLI motherboard, a dual core AMD processor,
RAID SATA hard disks, 20” widescreen TFT
and DVD writer, then squeeze all that into a laptop
– you’ll probably be thinking we’re
crazy… well rock has done
just that!
The
XTREME SL Pro laptop is one of a kind
and Driver Heaven is fortunate enough to take
the exclusive. As you open its lid for the first
time you literally get a strange shrinking feeling
– either this oversized beast of a laptop
is actually for real or you’ve just found
yourself in the sequel to “Honey, I’ve
shrunk the kids”.
UK
based Rock Ltd has specialised in high end notebooks
since 1992 and pride themselves for superb quality,
service and support. Their own dedicated forum
is a hotspot for gossip on the latest in mobile
technology and any help and advice for new and
existing customers.
The
SL Pro is the latest addition to Rock’s
XTREME range of laptops and successor to the 19”,
2x7900GTX beauty already on sale (and recently
featured on “Pimp my ride, UK”). It’s
aimed at serious gaming enthusiasts and workstation
users, fully customisable online and can be configured
with Quadro graphics for professional graphics
users.
Packaging
and Bundle
The
laptop was delivered in a large cardboard box,
well packed, suspended in plastic sponge and a
separate accessory box. A purpose made rucksack
came separately making an extremely valuable accompaniment
– you’ll find carry bag options for
20” notebooks are very limited. The unit
weighs in at 6.9kgs plus an enormous power adapter
to boot, you certainly won’t want to travel
too far with it on foot, but it’s still
portable.
All
backup CDs, windows XP manual and component video/S-video
cables are included.
