VIdeo Conversion

Our video conversion test uses VSO Software’s ConvertXtoDVD software. This application takes advantage of all four cores on each processor and allows us to convert almost any video file format to DVD. Our test file was a 104Mb, 720p .mkv file lasting two minutes forty-six seconds.

Time Taken in Seconds (Lower is better)
OCZ 3m 17s
Kingston 3m 13s

Music Conversion

Our music conversion test takes a 15 track lossless album and converts it using CD-DA convertor into 128Kbps Mp3 format.

Time Taken in Seconds (Lower is better)
OCZ 5m 53s
Kingston 5m 50s

In both encoding tests we see the HyperX memory produce faster conversion times. When performing the video work the difference is four seconds and audio, despite being a longer test, is only 3 seconds. The main finding that we can take from this test is that the tighter timings of the OCZ memory are almost able to cancel out the advantage the Kingston modules have in MHz.
