Final words and conclusion

OCZ can certainly boast about the performance of the ProXstream. It reached its maximum output of 1kW without any problems and the voltage regulation circuit of the unit is very steady and keeps all of the lines above the specifications at all times. Even the efficiency of the unit is something most other high class units can only hope to compete with. The build quality and design of the unit are both excellent and very similar to older TurboCool units, which were loved by the enthusiast community. On the other hand, the ProXstream is not the most practical power supply that money can buy right now – it is all about raw performance. When it comes to noise, the ProXstream is definitely one of the noisiest units you will find at a store. Aesthetics wise, the unit is not bad at all. It is simple but the titanium reflective paint and fully sleeved cables do help a lot. You will find no flashy lights or other fancy ‘bling’ on the ProXstream; none are needed for the market it is aimed at.

The ProXstream focuses purely on raw performance. It is not meant to be silent or pretty, just extremely potent on delivering and regulating 1kW worth of power. The hardcore overclockers and enthusiasts will love it, but with its price tag it is not going to appeal to other user groups. Nevertheless, it is one of the most powerful and efficient units that we have ever tested here in our labs and definitely worthy of our DriverHeaven Editor’s Choice Award.
