Packaging and bundle
The Lexa comes in a thick cardboard
box which gives a clear picture of the case inside.
It is thick enough to prevent any kind of damage.
By opening the case, you will first see the striking
front of the Lexa. The Lexa is also wrapped in plastic
and protected by two thick pieces of Styrofoam, so
given that it is also mostly made out of
aluminium and thus is very lightweight, it is extremely
hard to damage in this kind of packaging.
NZXT provides a good bundle along
with the Lexa. First of all, the most notable item
is the carrying strap. NZXT includes a strap which
wraps around the whole case and allows easy transportation,
something extremely useful for people that move a
lot or attend to LAN parties. Then, there are all
the screws and stand-offs you will ever need. More
than you will ever need actually, as most of the case’s
parts are screwless. There are some cable straps and
binders included for aiding cable management. Finally,
you will find all the necessary drive rails for all
of the drives that this case can handle. The drive
rails are all plastic, that makes them look rather
fragile thus I would prefer them to be metallic, but
they do get the job done more than efficiently. The
rails slide in place very easily, without any effort,
unlike many other cases.
The Case

When I took the Lexa out of the box,
I imagined that this case would draw much attention,
although its design is not complex. It just looks
very different in its own way. I was verified
on this by the attention that the case received from
almost everyone, ranging from people visiting me at
my house to courier employees when shipping the case.
The case certainly creates an attraction to anyone
that first sees it up close. The whole case is made
out of aluminum, painted black with a mirror finish
and has an aluminum mirror-like faceplate. If it is
up to me to say, it is a case that manages to draw
attention with only its elegant design and quality
finish, rather than with a complex design and a load
of lights or other features.
Exterior design

The front panel of the Lexa is made
out of aluminum and has a ‘bulge’ design.
The finish makes the front looking like a mirror,
and the design is perfectly symmetrical. At the lower
front of the case, at the side of the front panel
there are ventilation holes, which serve as the intake
holes of the front 120mm fan. By opening the door,
you will find that all of the interior plastic parts
are painted black with a mirror finish, including
the drive bay covers. The power button is located
outside the door, at the right top part of the case
beside the LCD screen, while the reset button is located
inside the case door.

The rear of the case is certainly
not so standard. There is a plastic frame
copying the design of the front of the case,
trying to make the case look perfectly symmetrical.
This plastic frame prevents the use of thumb
screws though. Other than that, there is nothing
else to draw much attention back there, except
perhaps the ventilation hole of the rear exhaust
120mm fan, which is cut following the honeycomb
design.

The bottom of the case looks almost
identical to the top of the case as well, except perhaps
at the front and back of the case due to the case’s
feet. There is an 80mm hole at both the top and bottom
of the case, honeycomb design, serving as an exhaust
of the top 80mm fan and as an air intake from the
bottom. The bottom of the case has no intake fan,
but there is a dust filter. All parts are painted
black with a mirror finish here as well.
The side panel of the Lexa is very
carefully designed as well. The NZXT logo on the side
panel is actually the panel’s lockable handle.
By pulling at it, you release the side panel of the
case, after you have removed the screws from the rear
of the case holding it of course. The window is held
in place by screws, which are covered by nickel plated
aluminum bars. This way, the finish looks much more
professional that having bolts and screws around the
window hole. The side panel also has a blue LED 120mm
fan attached on it. The fan is also covered by a dense
metallic mesh, adding to its appearance and serving
as a basic dust filter, which can be helpful for some
people who live in dusty environments.
