DriverHeaven Review

The Software

For those of you upgrading from a normal plug and play mouse I’m sure the concept of a mouse having an entire driver and software suite seems quite strange to you, but it’s a reality. Now for those of you who remember the MouseWare drivers, worry not, those are gone. And for those of you who hate drivers and software altogether, don’t worry they aren’t needed, even the DPI sensitivity switching is done without installing anything.

Installation is painless and aesthetically pleasing with easy clickable options and visual user feedback screens. The software requires a restart at the end so be prepared when you go to install the program.

Once your computer finishes restarting the software pops up to tell you things about your mouse and give you a run down of how everything works which is helpful for those of you unaccustomed to a similar install. For those who know what you’re doing, just go ahead and X it out.

The SetPoint software will pretty much take the place of the Mouse settings from control panel. It includes everything from assigning button tasks, changing DPI settings, scrolling size, cursor speed, and even cursor trails.

The mouse comes set with 3 DPI settings you can scroll to out of the box, 1600, 800, and 400. With the SetPoint Advanced Game Settings you can change the DPI of the 3 settings, add 2 more settings to switch to using DPI increments of 50, or make 5 entire custom settings. You can also select audio notification for when you change sensitivity but you have to assign a sound in windows for it.

Another feature of the Advanced Game Settings is adding games to use custom settings. The settings will include cursor speed and acceleration that you can set in other parts of the software suite.

The SetPoint Tools tab has the basic help documentation as well as the ability to bring up the tour that popped up previously when you finished restarting your computer. Something I found interesting was their “Ergonomic Information” which shows you how to compute safely and comfortably.

So we looked at what makes Mr. Mousey work, now let’s see how well he works.
