Logitech designs, manufactures
and markets personal interface products that enable people
to effectively work, play, and communicate in the digital
world. The company's products combine essential core technologies,
continuing innovation, award-winning industrial design and
excellent price performance.
Logitech is a Swiss based
company that has been turning heads for a while in the peripheral
world. I’m sure most of us tech people own at least
one Logitech product whether it be mouse, speaker, joystick,
or webcam. Their products always rate amongst the best in
whatever field they’re in.
Today we’ll be looking
at their newest mouse offering, the MX518 Gaming Grade Mouse.
The Package
For those of you who haven’t passed by the MX518 in
the store, this is what the mouse and box look like.
Driverheaven uses custom
javascripts to display high resolution images, some software
may class these as "popups"
Just make sure the box isn’t damaged
if you decide to purchase it (I would like to thank 2BuyStore
for poor packaging). Now once you take the box out you’ll
find a plastic shell encasing the mouse, instruction manual/installation
CD, and USB to PS/2 adapter.
I would just like to give Logitech credit
for writing “The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Installing
a USB Mouse.” It’s right on par with famous
literature like the instructions on pop-tart boxes.
On a good note, I really liked the CD slipcase
they used, it’s made from the same material as good
CD wallet sleeves. Does something like this really matter?
Of course not, but it’s a nice touch.

So now that we’ve seen
what comes with the MX518, let’s actually take a look
at it.
