Enhanced AA/AF

As the three products on test today are all very high performers it is worth considering some of the extra quality options available and looking at how they perform with some of the higher image quality settings applied. For this test we have enabled all of the higher quality IQ settings in each of the driver control panels such as transparency Anti-Aliasing, High quality Anisotropic filtering and Temporal AA. We’ve also set all sliders to high quality and turned off any optimizations.

The result is that the GX2 in multi GPU mode is the only graphics solution still playable in FEAR at 1600x1200. The GTX and X1900XT do perform well however they can’t keep the framerates above 25fps which results in stuttering game play.

Looking next at the SLI and Crossfire IQ enhancement modes shows us that the X1900XT is a far better performer when all options are set to maximum, in fact the X1900XT performs at twice the performance level of the GX2 in this scenario, as we will show in the next page this does come at an increased cost to the end user.
