Let’s
take a few close-up images of the DXG 506V:
This photo demonstrates
that the Viewer can be reversed to Display whatever
function and choices are selected. In this photo,
the MP3 Playback function is shown.
L et’s now take a little closer look at
the connection ports and memory slot:
Here
is shown the Flash (just below the Lens), the
USB, TV Out, and Audio Out connections.
Here is shown the location
of the SD/MMC Memory card slot. (Shown is my own
1 GB memory card.)
Yet,
something is missing:
Considering that there’s
a significant amount of cables, earplugs, batteries,
instruction manual, and other items important
to the function of the DXG 506V, I was quite disappointed
that there was no SD-MMC Memory card included.
Rather, the unit has 32 MB of built-in memory,
which, most of us know, won’t last long
at all in today’s technologically equipped
and educated population. So, I had to dig into
my own inventory and use a 1 GB SD-MMC Memory
card in order to do some extensive testing.
As the DXG 506V can do
several things, it does keep separate Folders/Directories
for each type of file stored. So, once the Device
Drivers are installed on the PC, it’s quite
easy to locate the particular type of file by
browsing to the designated folder/directory to
retrieve and download it.
The unit also comes with a CD with software included
to make the tasks even simpler. Besides the Device
Drivers, the CD includes Mr. Photo 3 and Video
Works 6.
If
anyone gets lost trying to determine which button/switch
does what, there’s a nifty little Help Screen
included by pressing the tab on top of the Viewer:
