Sisoft Sandra is a very popular synthetic benchmark which is ideal for testing the memory bandwidth and latency. Of course, as Sandra itself warns the user, it is a simple synthetic benchmark which runs a set series of tests and may not tally with real world performance. Higher bandwidth results are better and lower latency results are better.

While the Crucial Ballistix performs very well at their stock timings and speed, the lower latencies increase the RAM performance considerably. The performance gain is more obvious in the unbuffered test where the RAM performance goes up by 6%.
