Today
we have the chance to look at a new and sexy all
aluminum chassis from Cooler Master, the Mystique
631. This product has recently taken on a new
name. It was previously known as the Wave Master
II and our review sample is still carrying the
original name. As with all the products we have
looked at from Cooler Master their packaging is
top notch, pretty much assuring a safe trip from
the warehouse to our front door.
The
images above show the packaging and additional
hardware that comes with the Mystique The 5 1/4”
and 3 1/2” drive bays are completely tool
free which means adding and removing optical and
floppy drives is a breeze.
The
Exterior
This
chassis falls into the Mid Tower class and includes
4, 5.25” drive bays and 2, 3 ½”
bays. As the 3 images above show us, the Mystique
is a very elegant looking chassis. Since the case
is made of aluminum it is extremely lightweight
when compared to a rigid steel chassis.
The
first feature that caught our eye was the ability
to remove the front door and reverse it to open
from the left as opposed to opening from the right
as it does out of the box.
This
feature changes the appearance of the
chassis as well as giving it some additional
flexibility when it comes to finding the
proper place for our fully assembled system
to sit.
The
first image to the left shows the side panel that
has the air intake on the lower left. It sits
underneath the air duct that directs air towards
the CPU. This panel also has the release handle
that enables us to remove the side panel. The
next image shows us a close up view of the air
duct that is on the inside of the side panel.
The
rear side panel has nothing fancy to note, but
it maintains the clean appearance of the Mystique.
Next we have a look at the rear of our chassis.
The layout is very common other than the additional
holes that have been pre drilled to accommodate
liquid cooling setups. The ability to add liquid
cooling without having to chop up a case is a
nice touch that we will look closer at in an upcoming
review.
On
the top of the chassis there are two USB ports,
a fire wire port and mini-pin jacks for a set
of headphones and a microphone.
The
2 images above look at the interior of the front
panel. The panel has a mesh grill as well as a
removable mesh filter that can be removed and
cleaned. The grey plastic frame then clips into
place to hold things in place.
