Akasa Integral eSATA
The Integral eSATA enclosure is supplied in a sturdy, well designed box. Everything in the box is separated and well packed. Inside the box you will find an external power supply, a USB cable, an eSATA cable, proper HDD mounting screws, a plastic transparent base for placing the enclosure vertically, a CD with drivers for older OSes and a well written manual.
The Integral eSATA enclosure is a simple looking, elegant aluminum external enclosure. It is symmetric in order to be stackable with other similar Integral enclosures, making it ideal if you need multiple units. Most of the Integral enclosures share the same nickel framed black front and rear but the color of the aluminum body changes. We received the blue eSATA Integral unit for our review. The “Internal eSATA” logo at the front of the enclosure lights up blue when the enclosure is powered on, but the light is soft and won’t hurt your eyes if placed on your desktop.
At the rear of the eSATA Integral you will see three connection ports (power plug, USB and eSATA) and two switches (on/off and eSATA/USB). Although this enclosure offers eSATA and USB connectivity, both plugs do not work at the same time. The Integral eSATA opens up by removing two screws from the rear of the enclosure. You can install both SATA and IDE 3.5” drives in the Integral eSATA but IDE drives will only operate through the USB connection.
