PCMark 2002 was released a couple of years ago by Madonion (now Futuremark) the makers of 3DMark. It allows users to benchmark their Hard Drive, Memory and Processor under a variety of tests which are designed to show how the system will perform in home and office tasks.
From the CPU results there are two standout performers, the P4 and the AFX. Both scoring well over 7000. The other processors are pretty much equal, an especially good result for the Athlon XP 3200+. In the memory benchmarks the dated memory controller of the Athlon XP/Nforce2 system lags well behind the newer Intel p4/865 controler. With the 2 chips running on the socket 940 architechture the single channel ddr2700 results are quite surprising. The Athlon FX on the same motherboard shows an 8% improvement in memory performance.
