Radeon 9800 XT

Elite Force 2 is one of the latest games to be released using the Quake3 engine. As with all other Q3 based games you can record and playback your own demos. And if you wish, use these demos to benchmark graphics performance. The Driverheaven custom timedemo uses 5 bots and the Base Trophonious arena to ensure the benchmark is GPU dependant and limited as little as possible by the test system CPU. The length of the demo when played back at 1x speed is approx 9 minutes.

Considering the Geforce cards are known for their speed in OpenGL games and the convincing win for the FX 5900 Ultra over the 9800 Pro in the above test the results for the XT are astounding. Whilst at maximum resolution the XT is well over 14fps faster than the 5900 Ultra it thoroughly beats the 9800 Pro by 24.6fps (40%).
