Radeon 9600 XT

UNREAL TOURNAMENT 2003:
First Person Shooters are always used in graphics card reviews and there will be no change here. Until Doom3 and Half-life 2 hit the streets later this year Unreal Tournament 2003’s engine is the most demanding FPS engine out there. That combined with its inbuilt benchmarking utility makes it a great choice to show how the 9600 XT performs in todays games.

XT 1024x768 0xAA 0xAF
PRO 1024x768 0xAA 0xAF
XT 1024x768 2xAA 8xAF
PRO 1024x768 2xAA 8xAF
XT 1280x960 0xAA 0xAF
PRO 1280x960 0xAA 0xAF
XT 1280x960 2xAA 8xAF
PRO 1280x960 2xAA 8xAF

Again a noticeable improvement in the scores obtained by the XT over the pro. Nothing out of the ordinary though.

At 1600x1200 the XT performs as follows:

0xAA 0xAF

Despite such a high resolution the frame rates remained playable at all times. Scoring 70fps for a card that retails at $199 is excellent value for money.

Next: Eliteforce 2
