Ubisoft’s Splinter Cell patch 1.2 adds benchmark functionality to the game. The benchmark plays back a timedemo with a choice of 3 levels. 2 on the Tbilisi level and one on the Kalinatek level. Each of our tests was run using the maximum in game detail and no Geforce specific extensions/effects were used in order to obtain accurate and comparable results across all cards. As Splinter Cell does not correctly implement
Anti Aliasing on Nvidia or ATI cards AA was not used for this test.
With the Splinter Cell benchmark we see our first convincing win for the FX. It is ahead of the Radeon 9800 Pro in all but two of the tests with no AA/AF. The maximum lead was 4fps for the FX
When 8xAF is applied the results are reversed and this time the Radeon wins all but 3 tests. The maximum difference between the two was 4fps in favour of the Radeon.
Next: Tomb Raider & Aquamark
