XFX XXX 8800GT

A few weeks ago (on launch day) we looked at the XFX 8800GT 512Mb, it was a reference design model with reference speeds of 600MHz core, 1500MHz shader and 1800MHz memory. Although that card was a good performer it is not like XFX to remain within "standard" specifications. Soon after launch we received the top end XXX model and so now seems like a great time to take a look at it.

On a packaging, bundle and hardware level there is very little to differentiate this product from the stock model. The front of the packaging features two stickers that are not present on the standard card but everything else is identical. The most notable item in the bundle for those who missed our original review is a free version of Company of Heroes and its DirectX 10 patch.

The card may look identical to the reference design with two dual-link DVIs, TV/HDTV out, single slot cooler and single six pin PCIe connector but it is not. The core on this model is bumped up to 670MHz, the shader clock to 1650MHz and the memory (Qimonda 2000MHz chips) to 1950MHz.

Finally as with all other 8800GTs there are 112 shader processors within the 65nm G92 core and 512mb of DDR3 is connected via a 256bit bus.
