BFG 8600GTS OC2
BFG decided to go with a very minimalistic approach this time, so you won’t find any pictures on the front of the package. Just a sticker telling you what’s inside the box (since there is a gaping hole under the sticker it is possible that some retailers will chose to remove it and show the card instead). Inside you will find a plastic casing which contains the graphics card and the two DVI-to-VGA converters, the Molex-to-PCI-E power cable, the TV-Out dongle and a small cardboard box which contains the driver CD, manual and some small extras such as a BFG sticker.
As you can see BFG went with a slightly glossy version of the reference 8600GTS cooler. Considering the high overclock on the card we have to ask ourselves if it will prove to be enough when running the card for several hours in a standard case. As with all 8600GTS cards the BFG 8600GTS OC2 requires extra juice, so the provided PCI-E power converter is a nice touch for those with older PSUs. The specifications of the card are as follows (read more indepth analysis in our prior article here):

The card uses a new proprietary cooling system developed by BFG, which is called Thermointelligence. "The new BFG NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GTS ThermoIntelligence fansink was designed from the ground up by BFG Technologies to provide exceptional cooling performance without any gimmicks or draw backs. Some of the differentiating elements that went into our design include moving the fan to the opposite end of the heatsink to eliminate a dead air zone and increasing the surface area over the GPU for improved heat dissipation. The end result is a cool looking solution that’s well, cool."

Other than the insanely high speeds of the GPU and 100/200MHz overclock of the memory modules the card follows the reference design and comes equipped with two dual-link DVI and a TV-Out connector. Just like all the 8600GTS cards we reviewed so far, the BFG card is capable of displaying encoded HDCP video.
