Video and Audio Encoding

In the past we have taken a look at the performance gains which can be achieved when converting small video files using Badaboom (See Here) but recently Elemental added support for additional codec’s to the application. This makes the software much more flexible. Shown below is the result of converting a 1920x1080 file to the iPod setting within Badaboom. We also used Adobe Media Encoder to show CPU performance.


Our music conversion test takes a 13 track lossless album and converts it using CD-DA convertor into 192Kbps Mp3 format.

While the audio encoding test displays no real shocks, the Badaboom video encoding test displays some very impressive results. The time taken utilising the GPU for the video encoding is blisteringly fast in comparison to the speed at which the CPU performs the procedure.
