Introduction

Most hardcore enthusiasts are familiar with Topower as they are one of the oldest and most renowned PSU manufacturers. Topower has been the OEM that many popular brands (such as Tagan and BFG) used to manufacture their products, but a few months ago Topower released several high performance products under their own name.

Today we will have a look at their latest PowerBird 1100W PSU, a high performance modular unit. The PowerBird 1100W is designed to compete in the most demanding category of the computer industry market and appeal to the most hardcore of enthusiasts. The big question remains however, is it able to compete with other high end offerings such as the Corsair HX1000W?

Packaging and Bundle

The Topower PowerBird PSU is supplied in a well designed and original package. There is minimal artwork at the front side of the package, but plenty of information about the unit can be found at the sides and the rear. It looks like an ordinary cardboard box, but the cardboard exterior only offers some protection to what actually is a small aluminium suitcase.

You will find the PSU and its cables carefully packed inside the suitcase. The bundle is minimalistic and consists only of 4 basic mounting screws, a few cable ties and the keys of the aluminium suitcase. The lock of the suitcase is far from secure, but it still is a nice bonus and has a very wide variety of uses.
