The electrical performance of the Corsair HX1000W unit is class leading, it is as simple as that. The voltage regulation circuit is rock stable and only very minor voltage fluctuations take place on the two 12V lines, while the efficiency of the unit stays above 82% at all times, even at full load. After testing the peak power output, we found that the unit could run even with a
1200W load when the air intake temperature was nearly 40C. If we go above 1200W load, regardless of the temperature, it will quickly shut down to prevent any damage.
The thermal performance is above average for a unit with this kind of output. The HX1000W is also entirely silent up to 50% load. Between 50% and 80% load it is barely audible and above 80% the unit quickly becomes loud. Having said that, running this unit continuously at 80%+ load is going to require a behemoth of a system.
