Introduction
There is a lot of competition in the power supply market today, especially in the enthusiast segment where every manufacturer has released at least one 1kW+ performance unit to cope with ever increasing demands from the high end sector. Even though Akasa are better known for their cooling solutions, we have reviewed several of their PSUs in the past and found them to be very capable products, able to compete against any other brand in their league.
Today we will take a look at the latest and most powerful Akasa unit, the PowerXtreme 1200W. With a power output and specifications clearly aimed at the most hardcore of enthusiasts, it is trying to deliver maximum performance and quality while combining good aesthetics and a competitive price tag. We will give it a good workout to judge its merits….

Packaging and Bundle
The PowerXtreme 1200W unit is supplied in a large cardboard box. There is minimal artwork, with the PSU’s maximum output rating covering pretty much most of the front side. The pink colour of the box perhaps isn’t the most appealing choice since the vast majority of the consumers are going to be males. Information about the features and specifications can be found at the rear of the box. Everything is very well secured inside the package and protected by thick Styrofoam pieces. Inside you will find a well written manual, an AC power cable and three cable management wrap ties, which you will certainly need given the number and length of the unit’s cables.
