Inside Newegg: They give us a Tour and you a Prize
Established in 2001, Newegg has quickly become a household name among AnandTech readers. They originally won the hearts of many readers by offering extremely competitive prices and keeping customer service a top priority. Since their humble beginnings the company has grown tremendously, with net sales in 2005 of approximately $1.3 billion, a 30% increase over the prior year. Newegg currently stocks over 60,000 different products and ships up to 25,000 orders per day, 98% of them within 24 hours.
On a recent trip to Los Angeles we were given the opportunity to take a tour of one of Newegg's warehouses. While we've been able to tour Newegg's facilities in the past, this time they let us publish pictures and take you on a virtual tour of their facilities - effectively letting us follow the path of an order after it is placed online. Newegg sweetened the deal even more by working with us to give away some of their product to you all, but more on that later.

I thought this would be the most appropriate place post this article. Quite interesting if you're wondering how NewEgg operates. There's also a contest via AnandTech's site (for U.S residents only, I checked) to win some X2 4600+ processors (The unpopular X2). You also get to see a picture of Anand in a NewEgg hat! So that's how he looks like..

Nice post. It dispels the rumour that Newegg is a hole-in-the-wall operation. I honestly didn't believe that they were. Now we have proof.

I posted this to the front page (I even gave No Style credit )
If anybody finds good articles about online retailers, please submit them here. Since we have this new forum open, it would be appropriate to post some articles about common online retailers. Thanks, and good find No Style.

Awesome.
Nice coverage of the FedEx/UPS debate. I definitely preferred FedEx.

I love their shipping for some of their product, but if its out of state it almost always late. Every box I have gotten from them has been damaged and RMA's take almost 2 weeks sometimes. Also they ship items in the wrong size boxes to save money. Also sales tax is horrid, had to pay 100 just in tax to get my whole rig here, I'm goin tiger direct from now on...

That was from another post, but it is a hole in the wall.

Sounds like pure BS to me from someone that had a bad experience and wants revenge. Saying they're a hole in the wall place would also mean Anandtech made that article and all of those photographs completely up.
I've built my entire system from NewEgg and ZipZoomFly, the chassis on in, and then some misc things... shipping was usually 4 or 5 days, but they've both been great. Never once had to return anything.
What I found interesting was that NewEgg actually had rented a couple Billboards in Austin, Texas. I thought I was seeing things and had lost it when I saw those!
Also, I thought it was interesting that they claim to have warehouses located strategically across the nation, solely in order to give faster shipments to their customer base.

Well they kinda do and kinda don't. In my opinion (that is all it is! my opinion) they ship out of 3 diff. states because each facility has different items. CA, TN, and NJ are the states I know of off the top of my head. I've put together a system and have had the parts come from those 3 different states.
I've always been satisfied with NewEgg though. I've been shopping from them for about 3-4 years and I personally liked the FedEx Free 2 day Shipping they once had..shame they still don't have it. UPS hasn't let me down though.
