Newegg
I have visited their offices in city of industry over by where I live. Its very sad looking. I saw a guy drop so many boxes and just leave them there. Newegg is not the big company the website makes you think they are, they are just a ghetto ass hole in the wall. I love their shipping for some of their product, but if its out of state it almost always late. Every box I have gotten from them has been damaged and RMA's take almost 2 weeks sometimes. Also they ship items in the wrong size boxes to save money. Also sales tax is horrid, had to pay 100 just in tax to get my whole rig here, I'm goin tiger direct from now on...

hmmm.. interesting. i have never once had a problem with NewEgg.
GreenDeathFlavor, you have to pay taxes only because you're in CA. If you had it shipped out of state to a friend or family member and have them ship it to you, then it would come out less than the sales tax, if it's a big order, that is.

yeah I know, it still sucks but if I had it shipped out of state it would have to be to Washington DC so shipping would have been horrid anyway, tiger direct = no tax. Crappy California uber tax doom.

Well over the past several years I can say NewEgg has gone down hill somewhat.. I still use them, but I have had more problems and have gotten the run-a-round more often in the past couple years than I used to. Actually I can say I have been straight up lied to quite a few times in the past year or so.. but this was only by a couple of people.
Then again, I have had many smooth purchases, with no problems, great deals, fast shipping, etc. Overall I trust them, them because I can always get what I want if something goes wrong and I am willing to put in the time, but it is not as good as it used to be.

Opinions from reading on this forum regarding Newegg seems to be split into the hate them or love them categories.
Incidentally who and what did they lie to you about?

PLEASE READ
added a poll to this thread so that you can tell us whether you like the overal newegg experience or not, giving us the ability to show in one spot the general opinion of this online retailer.
The polls will be re-set every once in a while, as company practices do change over time

Be happy, I have to pay 15% sales tax on everything I order in Canada.

Well now that I think of it, I only had one problem with Newegg. The forgot to ship my current monitor. I wrote them and a rep wrote me back apologising and said that it was being shipped that day. Other than that, my packages have arrived on time and in good condition. Sometimes they arrive a day early and other times they arrive a day later, because I missed the first delivery attempt.

i havnt orderd anything from them in about 18 months now, but when i did i had no problems.
i bought a mobo, heatsink, and keyboard/mouse combo. damn good deal on the keyboard/mouse too.
out of all that, only the mobo was DOA but it was no big deal. a quick RMA and everything was up and working.

Everything perfect condition, perfectly boxed, RMA is a cinch, some of the cheapest prices minus the damned California Tax.
And I live in California so packages always get here a day early, but when I lived in maryland, packages always come on time or one day late or so, so im satisfied.

I've never had any trouble with anything I've ordered from Newegg. Never had a defective unit, everything's always arrived on time (or early). And this is in Ohio.

Wtf mate, I don't remember putting a poll up on this, but I do remember thinkin bout it. I think my main problem with newegg is I expected them to be too awsome and the whole tax thing, and the defective PSU, and the defective Mem I had to RMA 3 times... but I can't think of anything else, half of my things got to me crazy fast then everything else took like a week for 3 day shipping.

I haven't had any problems with Newegg, and everybody I've told about Newegg has not had problems with them. I like both Tiger Direct and Newegg, got my new RAM from Tiger a couple weeks ago
