Forget about Alienware Laptops...

Made an amazing discovery.

Google "sager notebook" or "Sager laptop"

You'll find cheap high-end laptops that has X800 or 6800 mobility... only costing 2000 or less with 15", and 2500 or less with 17"

And also, Alienware laptops ARE Sager laptops... just no paint.... or that big fat price.

Nope.

You are confusing the fact most of the new top end performance laptops are using CLEVO chassis.

Sager dont build the alienware laptops.

I own a 2.5 year old Sager which I purhcased after discovering that they manufactured the equivalent Alienware. The price was about 30% less. I can say nothing but good things about Sager and their customer service. When I replace this laptop I will probably buy another Sager. You can configure a Sager at a reseller for a bit less money than direct from the company.

this may be true man, but sager does not make alienwares, it's just that they both use a common case, some other companies use that case as well

Never heard from them before, but they have some good deals. Don't know how much the battery would last on a laptop with an AMD 64 X2 and a 7800GTX..

Sager has been around, oh, at least 15 years selling laptops too (back in the day when the Shopper was fat as a phonebook)!

I miss the good old fat computer shopper

damned zdnet bastards ruining it.

btw I don't know if this is still the case (no pun intended), however I do want to point out that I know for a fact that Sager used to make the Alienware laptops a few years back.

At least here in the US I know our models were that way. I took apart a few alienwares and they were the same EXACT parts inside as the sagers.

as I said earlier tihs is a misconception. Sager dont make alienware laptops. alienware laptops are built in their own workshops (ive been there so I know for a fact). Most manufacturers use the same CHASSIS from primarily far eastern sources which is causing the confusion. As for the parts inside, sager dont make AMD or INTEL cpus or ATI or Nvidia GFX cards.......

I was actually referring to the motherboard part numbers and a few other things.

As I said, this was a few years back, so I wasn't sure if they still were doing it that way or not

A lot of companies use Sager laptops then just re-sell them ie (voodoo). Alienware is not one of them.

okay here's a review from someone who actually owns an Alienware laptop and I have a friend who owns a sager laptop (look at my sig)

okay.. I've had my laptop for a little over a year and I only needed to reformat once. The only problem I find with it is the overheating which I'm sure all top notch gaming laptops encounter. Comparing hardware, I'd say Alienware and Sager are about the same. But my friend who owns a sager laptop informs me that Sager has horrible customer service. Alienware's customer service is superb in my opinion, I always got responses and solutions via email within a day and even quicker on the phone. To me, if I were given the choice of Sager or Alienware, I'd choose Alienware because of the fact that when I customized both laptops of the same processor to my liking, both laptops are around the same price yet Alienware's customer service superceeds Sager's by a mile. Your pick.
