scan.co.uk = useless at dispatching goods!

Before christmas I ordered a TJ09 from them that was 'in stock'... waited a week - they'd taken my money - but hadn't dispatched anything!! Ended up cancelling the order - even though I ordered it stating that it needed to be shipped out before some date (gave them 3 working days!)

Then first thing Monday this week, ordered some hard drives from them. Didn't even dispatch until Wednesday - slowest company I've come accross! Wouldn't have ordered from them again - but they gave me free postage so thought what the hell as I wasn't in a rush for these drives.

The thing is - they're sales/cust services staff quite blatently told me the case would be delivered the day after I ordered it! I rang up every day asking what was going on and kept getting told the following day!!! Then the hard drives were supposed to be dispatched monday for delivery tuesday - they're a joke!

I am a very impatient person, but it's not that I can't wait... it's just if I'm told something is going to be dispatched that day, I expect it to be dispatched that day.

Yeah - their prices tend to be a quid or two cheaper - but most of the time it's worth paying the little extra to get what you want a week sooner from ocuk/aria/ebuyer lol

Well I had a little whinge today and they are sending my order to arrive tomorrow, Roxan a customer services manager did the "It is a rare occurence and we treat your custom with high regard etc" and basically said these things are unlikely and are sorry.

Just got an e-mail that my second order has been delayed "Due to unexpectedly high sales volumes".

Seems you were right tasty.

2 orders both delayed for less than clear cut reasons. I don't mind particularly the delay in itself but the "delivery anytime between 9-6" for what looks like it will be 3 days running just isn't particularly helpful.

What the hell is unexpectedly high sales volumes anyway? Order another van so you can put your abnormally high amount of sold items on it and get it delivered

Slow is an understatement!
I placed an order 5:45Am wensday & soonest del came up as monday wtf so i payed extra for Sat del just hope it turns up cos that cost me £20 more.

Another order that i placed on the 5th for del on the 15th has been delayed email sent on the 14th.
All items are in stock, so i can only think that they only pack stuff on the day before dispatch no matter how long ago you ordered it.

Thank you for your order from Scan.

Please regard this email as a notification of delay in your order due to an
unexpected volume of orders placed throughout the day. Please rest assured your
custom is greatly valued and we will process your order with the utmost urgency.
Your order has still been booked for a next working day delivery from the point
of despatch and we will send further emails to confirm this.

EDIT:
Also only telling you of out of stock or delayed order the evening before your ment to receive the goods takes away any reasonable way for a backup plan for getting stuff else where in time.
It seems that they do this in hope that they can restock in time because they fear that letting you know sooner gives you a better chance to cancel order.

There damn well better be an email by 4pm today.
It should be first orders get priority but i know that Scan wil now be the last priority on my where to shop list.

Yeah - that's the problem I have with them.

I'm willing to accept delays - but if they 'confirm' a delivery date I expect it to be there that day.

Update, I got an e-mail shortly after the one telling me my second order had been delayed to tell me that that order has been put onto a van to arrive at some point today, I then got another e-mail with a list of goods on the first order arriving today including the RAM that is out of stock.

I have absolutely no idea what to expect now.

@ Final8 I think you are right, they have these issues on their selected feedback "The word" section saying these things are getting ironed out. BS I call, it is just a scheme that lets them sell stock to new custom on the fly and if it goes tits up it prevents you from ordering an alternative from another site.

Very bad business practice tbh, and with the amount of time it takes to even get an order to arrive [normally something like 4-5 days] I won't be buying from them again, I would rather spend an extra £50 on an order of £1500 for some actual service.

UPDATE 19/02/07
New e-mail from them, telling me my RAMs expected date of arrival is the 21st when it came into stock on the 16th. Lame.
Another e-mail came today telling me the motherboard I have got is not the Wi-fi P5B afterall, just the P5B...

I should have noticed that but I havent bothered building it since they didnt gve me any ram. Mobo arrives next week. Which in Scan terms means it will arrive at my door in probably 12 days time.
