I'm sorry to see a few of the DH members having problems with overclockers.co.uk.

But for myself i still have had no fault with there service as my order of my Leadtek 7900GTX TDH
512mb went as smoothly as i expected.

Ordered Late thursday night, thus missing out on the next day delivery due to the time so expected date was yesterday. As from previous orders was normally before 12.00pm which has been the usual time for my location, and they still (all be it was the courier) did not let me down.

The only things that has altered is the Courier from AMTRAK to City LINK,And more importantly the payment method has now changed to using Verisign (i Think).

Here's my experience. I ordered bits and bobs including VGA cooler, cable ties, cleaning fluid, surge protector....... I ordered and was told via the order status that some items were out of stock and I'd have to wait. This is fine, it happens from time to time and I'm patient. A couple of days later I discovered that OcUK had already charged me. I usually expect companies not to charge until close or upon despatch. I e-mailed and got a prompt reply saying that this was their policy though I could find no mention of it on their website. Fine, now I know.

A couple of days after that I checked the order status and it informed me that my order had been deleted but did not say why. I had not been informed of the deletion. So I e-mailed and recieved a prompt reply again saying that because they could not obtain some items they had decided to cancel the whole order. I don't understand why they couldn't sell me what they did have and refund the rest. In the end I got a prompt refund of all my money. Now I give them brownie points for prompt e-mails and prompt refund but the e-mails had little content nor did they try and satisfy my order or suggest alternatives.

I wrote a polite customer feedback/complaint e-mail with no response and tried to bring it up on their forum. But the forum is strictly moderated as a complaint free zone so as to only portray positive views.

I won't be using them again.
Cheers

Split my order between these and Microdirect. No complaints here, great stock levels and excellent offers which apply to new stuff (BFG 8800GTS £299) and not just the usual clearance items.

Todays date is the 5th of january 2007. I ordered My kit on the 23rd of august 2006.
I have just got off the phone with overclockers.co.uk for the 6th time since my order unsurprisingly unsatisfied again with the service. I ordered the whole shabang, mboard chip, ram, gcard , raptor HD. Upgrading from a xp3200 to a new intel duo platform.

On recieving my goods i went straight upstairs to the study and set up only to get a no post. Its the first time i have ever done a complete platfrom change and also my first intel set up for years. Unfortunatly i am the only person i know to have one of the new Duo's so theres no way that i can take the kit round a mates house and do some testing to find out what component is faulty.

I get on the phone to overclockers.co.uk to RMA my kit back to them to receive my first peice of ill news. Overclockers returns and testing policy states that any component found to be 'OK' in testing will get you a 10 pound testing charge 0_o. I state that all the items were under 1 order but alas each component counts a serpate test as its not one of thier 'full systems' or 'bundle deals'. Thier techie guy advises me that i should find a test bed to pin point the problem(keep in mind that the duo's have only been on the market for i think 2 weeks).

So i make a trip to a friends house in leamington hoping that the problem is the gcard as that can be tested on his amd duel core platform. Card fails to post. Great. get that RMA'd to OCS and i get my new card back reasonably promote. I'll point out here that this is now 3 weeks after my original purchase. Stick the new card in and i STILL get a no post. Amaziningly annoyed i phone the same friend in leamington arrange a trip to his for gcard testing and make the choice to drive from leamington to stoke where OCS is based. Now this is the cut off point of my 28 days return period.
Testing the card and it posts in my mates machine. I decide to take ALL my kit to the OCS and see what they can do. I Get there and the guy agrees to test my kit for me( with out the charge :| ) turns out not only is my ram faulty but also the motherboard is faulty aswell. So i await my replacment kit.. only to be told as i am outside the 28 returns period i have to have my kit sent back to the manufacturer. Amazed at this i point out that the only reason that i am RMA'ing my goods outside the 28 returns period is because their own technical support advised me NOT to send all my order back as i would get charged on the items that passed the testing. After a period of arguing i leave the store with my goods being sent back to OCZ and intel. Later that week my old XP3200 system dies.. So i make the decision to just replace my faulty Duo parts instead of sinking money in a old setup. Parts turn up ( again from OCS ) and everything is great. Continual calls to the OCS and theres no news on my returning parts. On the 30th of December i phone up again enquiring about my missing parts/money to discover that my parts have been in the store since the 14th of november but haven't been dispatched. The reason for this is that they had no contact details for me.Annoyed to the point of exploding i discover that the reason for this is that as i returned the parts to the store for testing the RMA was created as a shop order even though i purchased all parts via the web. Anyway, all well that ends well right ? WRONG. I decide that enough is enough. I just want my money back for the parts.I'm told that it won't be a problem and that my account will be debited at the latest on the 4th of january. This morning i check my account to find no money deposited in my account. On phoning up i discover that there is no record of a an agreement to return my money :@ After a heated telephone discusion with one of the support staff i am told that they cant authorise a refund as thier manager( who apperently is the only person who can authorise this) is not in the office as he is sick and they have no idea when he is back in.

So.. 23rd august --- 5th January. No goods. No money.

I'll personally never order from these guys again.

PS -- sorry for the wall of text.. but yeah... ANNOYED :@

Sidi,

sounds like you have had a complete nightmare! OCuk seem to be quite variable, some love it, some hate it, I am cautious but have just ordered Vista OEM from them so we will see how that turns out.

Hope you manage to resolve your issues!

In all fairness i have ordered and RMA'd successfully before. It seems to me thier staff had a complete nightmare when there was a clear conflict between the techies/customersupport/customer. They have just blindly stuck to thier 28 day returns policy when clearly there should have been an exception made in this case.

According to my research into the fair trades act they are i think in violation as the period of time between which you can determine if goods should are faulty and the supplier is responsible is a good faith agreement that the customer agrees to. exceptions are if the customer has no way of testing the goods with in the agreed period of time, As was the case with my order. But to quote their support via the phone " thats not our problem its yours"

Even if it was my problem... they have now lost a customer who has spent thousands of pounds in thier store over the last 5 years.

I would recomend the store if people were buying a single or 1-2 items.

But i would not by multiple components as i did as you take a serious risk if something goes wrong.

I think in many ways OCuk is too big now to provide the personal service that they once did.

it is a shame but at least there are other providers who still have that personal feel (kustompcs, quietpc) even though they often cant compete directly on price - always a trade off :/

I'll deffinatly be looking for a company with this.

If you have ever visited OCS thier operation is kinda small. The guy on the frount desk was bombarded with complaints and dis-satisfied customers when i was there. Whats worse is the he managed them and me poorly :/

To many people and not enough staff.

I hope they manage their RMA service more efficiantly in the future.

Aw hell guess i'll be putting the RMA system into use. Im afraid my OCZ 700W Powersupply is suffering from the screaming fan that appears to be a common issue.

Didnt we used to have an OCZ rep guy on the forum? I'd appreciate it if someone could put me in touch with him as I may be able to resolve the problem myself.

Thanks Lel
