Cloth Cat Part II & Checkout Girl

Hello folks,

I've been away for a while, but I wanted to stop by and let you know I've posted a couple of new (well old, revisited) tracks to my space at Purevolume.

Although I've not posted for a while, I have stopped by now and again to listen to all of your new tunes, and all is great! I've been having some personal problems in reallity, so that has hampered my life on various boards I belong to.

Right, Clothcat Part II is goes hand in hand with another track written by my best mate Phil, when we were in a band 'A series of wheels' 5 years ago. It's an unashamed tribute to Pink Floyd in their 1968-1972 period. Never got to record this with the band, so this is my 2001 demo with modifications in 2004 - Namely Groove agent sounds triggered bu my midi drum part, an added bit of mellotron, and some remixing.

Checkout Girl is a really early song of mine, oringaly written and recorded (several times) in 1997. From my peers it is the one song that I am given the most respect for. This is a double edged sword, as it has basically given me severe writers block for the past 8 years, also I'm never happy with the recording of the song. This version was tracked in 2001, and agin remixed in 2004, with a scratch vocal take added. -Yes, you can witness first hand my wonky 'posh' English voice trying badly to keep an american accent up!

your music is great.... youve got much better i think. i really like the experimanting with different time signatures, really cool and fit in with the songs fine (5th finger and cloth)!

the cloth song i REALLY LOVE once the organ comes in... fantastic and very floydy, great chords and pace and build... not sure about the bells at the end, needs to be more raw i reckon.

checkout girl good song... not my usual style but appreciate it all the same.

really like them, all 3 are very different...(i remember the 3rd one, 5th finger, from before and still really like it, well arranged.)

keep going mate, dont let life get you down on them music front, its a great healer!

Cheers for the kind words. All of the songs are part finished (as ever). Got some great ideas brewing, just gotta find the time and the energy to get 'CREATIVE' -sorry crap pun.

Glad you liked Cloth Cat Part II, I'll put Phil's Part I up on some webspave in the near future and let you know. I agree with you that the song really gets going when it breaks down to the Hammond. Yeah, like a toddler at dinner time, I'm currently just loading up my old cubase files and playing with my music / food instead of digesting new things. But...Music is great healer, you are quite right. I'm into listening more than playing at the moment - Ive listend to 'Bliss' about six times since I logged on. Been dealing with my wife's severe depression, my own anxiety, and currently dealing with the very recent death of my Mother-In-Law. All a bundle of laughs, no need for a sob story, but yes Trev, music is my refuge. Cheers for making some good stuff to listen to, and that goes out to all you KX users.

edit- had another listen of cloth.... really really like it!!!!! well done mate! much better the second time!!! just a thought....organ needs to be more centred i think in the mix? and definatly get rid o fhte bells and add something more powerful i reckon.
