'Termination' - my first techno try.
This is my first electronic/techno style song. I am a guitarist and my music has always been oriented towards jazz, rock, heavy metal and other guitar oriented styles. A few days ago I decided to make an experiment and try something different. The result of that experiment is this song:
Termination.mp3(If you do not have an integrated download manager use "Save Target As" in internet explorer to download)
I made it in a few hours in FruityLoops with no pre-recorded samples, but with soft synths only. It is not mastered in the usual sense of the word, but is how it came out of FruityLoops, done with its limited features. Nevertheless it sounds nice in my oppinion.
edit: I forgot to mention that it is inspired by the movie The Terminator (the first one), which I think is the best action movie of all time.

firstly im typing this as i listen:
i like the build up it has, nice delay on the lead synths, but there's not enough of a build imo… but a nice track
each time the lead comes in try putting another instrument in the background, even if its just a drumloop
the strings sound that floats around… it seems a little too prominent… try putting a large reverb on it and have it follow the lead's tune, see how that works out
but a ver nice try for a first venture into the wide world of electronic music

Yep, you're right. If I decide to master the piece I'll fix that for shure.

There actually is a snare riff, but it's too quiet, again a result of a poor mix. I might change something there or even create a new snare sound.

Hey Tiger, I had never seen your smile, he he. I think you are in the right way. but, in my opinion, it should be longer, (the song, not the beard) or more uhmm, labored (dictionary word) Anyway it's just my taste. BTW what did you say at the end of the song?

Thanks. See, this thing was just a spontaneous idea to try something different, it is not taken very seriously by me. If I decide to continue working on it I will make a better mix and add some progression to make it sound more interesting and a few more instruments to fill the gaps (as dj_stick suggested).
At the moment I'm working on a serious smooth jazz project (which I might eventually post here) and 'Termination' is put aside .

'You have been terminated'

My girls heard it the other night (5 and 8) and asked me to play it again last night so they could dance.
