From Beginning to End

Hey Now!

I thought there may be interest in following the development of one of our recordings with kX driver 3537 and Sonar 3.1

This song is an orginal by our band, Prophets Thumb, called 'Mothers Garden'.
Scratch track is incomplete vocal ( James does not know his own words yet) and acoustic guitar. Our scratch track or 'click' as it is somtimes called is only for reference. Next James put an experimental Drum track on. I added a jazz type lead guitar which I just jamed through and a fake bass which is a guitar track transposed down one octave (lazzzzy).

There are some timing problems (on acoustic guitar scratch track) which I will pull down with volume envelope when I record the actual tracks.Makes it sound like the drums fall apart but they don't if played alone with metronome on.

Song at : http://erthma420.wirefire.com/MP3/MothersGarden.mp3

This recorded with kX ASIO 3537. I have Creative and kX on the same machine...ASIO=kX, WDM 24/96=Creative...two soundcards.

If using the Creative drivers with an Audigy 2 or ZS go here and read this:

You may not be getting what you think you are in regards to 24/96 recording and playback although it is easy and possible to achieve Damn Creative marketing hype.

Cheers,
buvoltz

In The Mix

Hi,

We have brought 'Mothers Garden' to the place where I begin to mix, make volume envelopes, and generally try to fix everything or remove what we don't want in the song.

Any input from the forum would be helpful in placing the instruments in the mix. I have it now to a point that is beginning to sound right to me but it's not finished.

The MP3 is at : http://erthma420.wirefire.com/MP3/MothersGarden.mp3

Let me know what you think thus far.
