shyman is the title
Check out a techno breakbeat tune I did a couple of weeks ago. I was just curious about making one so I had an idea that morning (after a nightclubbing) which was completed in ten hours(!!!)
listen and comment, I'm not feeling serious about it but I'd like to have it discussed...

sounds very electro at the start, with some very tech-trance style influences on the melody. Only criticism i can make is that the tick-tock sounds doesn't seem to be in time with the rest of the music

OK thanks guys
my "drum" method...?
hmm, real time recording , no, there are 4 or 5 drum patterns (loops) each during 1-4 measures, they are all mixed in a seperated mixer to match the needed "punch" with differrent equalization and there is some automation in 2 of them to achieve the filtering near the end of the song. There is also one drum loop (the slow one (65bpm)) that is taken from a portishead remix on junkwaffel's song "mudskipper". (what a thief am I?) also filtered by the same method.
In fact there is some extra midi in the drum roll part where the drums are taken 2 octaves down to give the feel that it is slowing down but it isn't, it is still 130bpm.
Now about the tick-tock sound it is an old style clock that is actually streched to fit the tempo (130bpm) I can guarantee you that it is in perfect sync with the beat but maybe it doesn't fits the general "look" of the song. But I like the effect it gives so I tried to keep it as short as I could.
thanks for taking the time to listen and comment an d sorry for being a little late but the bloody bussiness is eating b=my time....
(edit) I just wanted to add that I'm working in Reason rewired in adobe audition for extra mixing capabilities and using Kx asio . Without kx the latency is really a big issue!!!

I was wondering how you create this kind of music. I am familiar with Cubase, but to do this in only such a short time makes me wonder how you did this. So to be more specific, what software do you use (loops?). And how does this work?
Hope I am a bit clearer now?!
Regards,
Shinco

Ok now I see.
In fact I'm using Reason3.0 which makes things a bit easier. I use the 1,25gb soundbank of Reason but I've also some extra 4,5Gb soundbanks including sounds, loops, and acoustic intruments as well as synth samples. But with the power of the program I can modify them to anything I like. I've been working on Cubase some time ago but I was tired of looking for VSTs plugins etc. to match the sounds I wanted.
The reason I use kxproject driver is that no other CL driver can give the low latency in ASIO and without it my "poor" Audigy would be dead.
I understand that there are plenty of programs for someone to make music but for a begginer I don't think Cubase is the right one.
I'm using Adobe Audition as well to edit and master my music and it has an enormous power when "rewired" with Reason. Another usefull little program is Steinberg's Recycle wich allows *.wav loops to be imported in reason's Dr.Rex loop player. (you see Reason is a virtual rack equipment that has got 2 analog synths 2 samplers 1 loop player 1 drum machine and many effects including delays, distortion, vocoder, flanger etc.)
Reason is not an easy software to operate but in comparison with Cubase, it gets you right to the point by a shorter trip but it also needs some time time for one to get used to.
And remember no music software is usefull enough without a MIDI controller/keyboard because computer's mouse was not invented for music composition...
I hope I've been helpfull though music making is a big issue and we could chat for hours/pages. If you need further info don't hesitate to PM me or mail.
also check---> REASON ---> Audition

Check the V.2 of "shyman" on the first link(myspace) of the original thread, and compare it to the older version of the second link (purevolume).
ah! and feel free to ask for friendship if you own a myspace profile.
Happy new year!

Hi,
Thanks for the clarification!
I am a beginner but have seen reason. Great software. I prefer Cubase however. Simply because it is more versatile. Reason has some limitations. Well. I bought a Yamaha MU100R today and am playing around with it. I use it with an Edirol PCR-M80 controller with Cubase. And ofcourse with an Audigy 2 running KX. Great stuff. Great hobby.
Reg,
Shinco.
