I think he meant he won't be upgrading his PC with a new card, but building a completely new rig.

I completely agree on that upgrading has become kind of useless if you bought a high end machine with technologies greatest and then try upgrading, the performance gain is not as great as if you get another completely new machine with technologies greatest...
waiting and saving for a complete new machine is the better option… anyway new machine normally means mobo, ram, cpu, graphics… the rest can be reused

I'm sticking with my current card for now.. but would replace it with a R520 card IF they bring out an AGP version.

I know, I just couldn't resist
Anyway, according to anandtech (am I allowed to post that?), those who voted wait, will have to wait till november at least. And from what I've seen about RV530 and RV515, it won't be a great piece anyway.

I just got my X800XL about 3 months ago, and it rocks, so I won't be updating it for about another year.

The October issue of Maximum PC says the R520 nor the Crossfire system is nowhere in sight.

Well let's be honest, I think everyone knows you seem to favour nvidia and right now I can understand why you would However I think its best waiting for new hardware to be released rather than just going on what information the inquirer and other "news" sites post.
Of course the speculation is half the fun, isnt it?

yup, that's why I love the inreuirer
But you know, I've always disliked NVidia and always bought ATI Zardon (I own right now a 9600XT for my bro, used to have a 9800 Pro, X800XT, X800XT PE and I have in my current right a X850XT PE). I just don't seem to be seeing that confidence in ATI recently but hey, I might be surprised

All i'm doing is telling you guys what i'm reading in the October issue of Maximum PC.Yep,I read it cover to cover two or three times per month. And 99.9% of the time there dead on target. And i'm not an nVIDIA fanboy.I have had plenty of ATI's cards and liked every one of them. And I really dont think the largest selling PC mag in the business can be called "The Inquirer".

I assure you hawgy, if zardon says something, he's right and I doubt the R520 would have no crossfire... It's like the G71 having no SLI. Just think for an instant. 99.9% of the time right still leaves margin for error
Though from my experiences, that mag is always wrong.

No problem.I have been having a few of those myself. My heart just breaks for the folks on the Gulf Coast.I wished there was something I could do.I remember on my 18th birthday in 1979 I was in Myrtle Beach S.C. with a few of my buds{back in my drinking days}and a cat.2 hurricane was heading that way.Well,we were gonna be such bad asses and ride it out drunk in the motel.Til the waves started laping up against the motel where we were staying..........We got the hell outta Dodge REAL FAST!!!!I can only imagine a cat.4 storm.
