Sure I prefer nVIDIA right now. There blowing ATI outta the water. But if the new card ATI is coming out with and the Crossfire system has a good 20% increase in proformance over nVIDIA I will gut my SLi rig and put it on EBAY so fast it will make youre head spin! But as they say in Missouri. You gotta"show me" first.

I'm happy with what I have now.
But if I were to upgrade, I would still have to think before going for ATi again.

Really hope to see the leadership ATi displayed when it released the 9xxx series again.
Hope the product line gets streamlined too. XT. Pro. XL. GT. SE. Confusing ><

But I really like the driver support of ATi, the constant upgrades and nice interface and of course, the nice community. -> Holds me back from going nVidia the next round. ^^

Too bad I can never use my AGP X800XL in a crossfire mobo.. but I couldn't wait until x-fire comes out to upgrade my card. Also I didn't want to go PCI-e yet because I want to wait till X-fire comes out.. a catch-22.

I know it is not realistic to think I could.. but when I upgrade my mobo and crossfire systems are out.. it would be awesome if somehow I could use it..

Now if I want to use X-fire- I will have to sell the AGP X800XL at a substantial loss- buy another X800XL PCI-e, then buy another one. Oh well. I do want a crossfire system for my next major system upgrade.. running 2 X800XL's.

Too bad there isn't even a hint at a release date.

I'm happy with my 6800gt so no ATI for now unless they start making cards that blow nVIDIA out of the water.

A new CPU is what I need too. I have a 2.4 and I'm not getting all that I can from my vid card...or so I've been told.

I've got the bucks $$$ and i'm ready to do my upgrade to PCI-E and get me a new GPU.
Just waiting for ATI to show their cards. Either way, we the consumer wins.

I hope ATI does it again. I really prefer ATI to nVidia.
I wonder when the first R520 reviews will hit the net. Also hope there will be plenty of cards availbale on launch. nVidia had cards available at my suppliers the day of the launch. And thats no small feat as I live in South Africa

There won't be cards available.. Apparently ATI is having problems again with manufacturing! And if it's REALLY a 16 pipe card, trust me, spend your money on the 7800 series. I hope ATI has a good answer to But anyways, u got a nice PC right now, I'm sure you can wait for the real kingpins to come out and fight!

I want to switch over to PCI-E ASAP. AGP is on the way out

I'll be getting a the ASUS A8N SLI Premium board with CPU and 7800GTX/R520.
The whole upgrade will cost me about $270 (Im selling my old components)

Thumbs Down!

After seeing those benchmarks, I went ahead and bought an eVGA GeForce 7800 GTX. Aside from the waiting, the benchmarks swayed me to go ahead and buy it. They could be fake but I don't think they were. Then there are these: http://hardinfo.dk/show.asp?desc=3866 These could be fake as well. I don't care anymore but I don't think they are. Besides on ATi's last roadmap it said that the top X1800 XT would be released a month after the general release of the R520. I believe the X1800 XL/Pro will be released first. There is also much talk that there will be a repeat of last year so you can expect to pick up a XT around December or January '06. That is just talk but it is on the ATi roadmap that the XT will be a month behind the XL/Pro.

That said the XL is very simliar in performance to the XT. ATi said that they had not released any R520 XT boards to any partners yet, hence the R520 XT benchmarks from Hardware Analysis being fake. Didn't anyone think that they simply O/Ced a R520 XL to XT speeds??? The only difference between the XT and the XL is that the XT has it's core 50MHz faster and it's memory 75MHz faster. Everything else and I mean EVERYTHING else is identical! Both have 512MB of ram etc etc...

Yup I sure did, it will be here on Tuesday! If the R520 XT happens to blow the G70 out of the water (I don't think it's gonna happen though) I'll still be ok with it, quite angry at myself but ok in the end. I was able to buy a needed HD so it worked out. I just think ATi has lost many customers to nVidia because of the delays and will continue to do so. After seeing those benchmarks (fake or not) I just decided to say screw it and do it. I'm tired of waiting for....WHAT...what are we waiting for. So far we're waiting for empty promises! Not good enough!

It looks like the R520 XT won't be released on the day of the launch. That's not new news but there's more talk of it now. If that's true then the everyone waiting for the XT will have to wait at least another month! I was going to just get a XL and O/C it to XT speeds but if the Inq is correct the only variant that will O/C well is the XT. The XL and all others are not good O/Cers at all. http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=26243

So it looks like November 5th if the XL is released on October 5th that is. That is from the last ATi roadmap anyway.

Sure thing! Hey, if the R520 turns out to be ...well slower than the G70 does. Are you still going to get it or will you buy a G70 or wait for the R580? Seeing what you have, you could totally wait....there's no need for you to get the R520; however if I had already planned on upgrading, it would be hard not to.

I think you would see a bigger change if you waited and went to the R580. Now that should be a massive difference. I doubt you'll see that much difference going from you X800 Pro to a R520 or even a G70 for that matter. Still, waiting until the R580 to be released....well after all this crap we've gone through, I couldn't wait to tell you the truth..heh.

From my perspective, I will see a massive difference in framerate anyway. I doubt I'll see much difference in IQ from my X300 to the 7800. As crappy as this card is, the IQ is the best I've ever seen in a $50 card! Had I gone from my 9800 Pro to the G70, the difference would be less I think. However going from a GeForce Ti4400 to a Radeon 9800 Pro was a noticeable difference.

Anyway I'll let you know how I like it. I just checked the tracking number and even though it's scheduled for Tuesday, it looks like it's gonna be here tomorrow!! One thing different from that the 7800 has vs the 6800 is that this time nVidia controlled and handled all the production of the 7800's! Of course that means the quality of each card is higher than they used to be. In the 6800 and prior the board manufactures like XFX or eVGA would build them to nVidia's spec but sometimes wouldn't use the parts nVidia wanted so the quality would vary between manufacturers. This time they are all high quality and no matter which company you choose, they are all the same, save the paint job on the heatsink. Isn't that what ATi does...build them all themselves then ship them to the company's. I've always heard ATi usually have better hardware while nVidia's hardware isn't quite as good but they have better drivers. Well so far, nVidia's drivers and hardware are excellent from what I've read!

Nah, i can't wait. I just got that upgrading itch
The main reason for upgrading is to switch to PCI-E. AGP is dying a fast death!

My PSU blew on sunday night
So now my new PSU is setting me back quite a bit
Bought myself a ANTEC 480w. Was thinking about getting a ThermalTake but read alot of bad things about them.
