I ended up upgrading my MX700 for a MX1000 and I can honestly say it was well worth it. Best mouse I have ever owned.

I recently went from an intelimouse 4.0 to a mx510, there are things I miss from the intellimouse, but over all I'm happy, I wish the 510 was a bit taller like the ms one, and the tilt wheel on the ms one was an awesome feature for working on his res pictures, but I think i like the mx 510 more, but both rock

i ended up getting a logitech G5 and oh gee i love it.got some good feet for it and have the weights set up just right and my frag level went up by atleast 20%.i did have the drivers installed when i first got it because 2000dpi was just to fast so i made a custom dpi of 1800 until i got used to it.now i run constent 2000dpi and no need for the drivers.they are kinda bloated anyhow and use about 10mb of resources to run in the background.also i could never quite get the game detection system down and gave up and that is all the drivers are really good for.even without the drivers you can set 2000,800,and 400 dpi.i really recommend this mouse to anybody and is well worth the price.later

I recently switched from my Microsoft IntelliMouse and got a Logitech G5, and I'm loving it, now all there is to do is waste my money on a few extra keys and an LCD screen (G15 Keyboard) .

Sorry for bumping the thread...
I have a MX1000 Laser, but I find the battery life very disappointing. I usually find the battery lasts 2 days if I'm lucky, and I haven't played any games with it recently. After the MS Intellimouse wireless I had, which used one set of battries for a couple of months of intensive gaming, the MX1000 is a bit disappointing in the battery life department, but it is the most comfortable and fastest mouse I have ever used.
For the MMORPGs I play it is great, although I haven't played a FPS in donkies years. I think the last FPS I played was C&C Renegade...

Logitech OEM cordless Desktop:
Rechargables in mouse (eats batteries).
Original set of duracells in keyboard, though key letters are wearing off extremely badly - rather disappointed with Logitech on that.
On old system:
Typhoon/Anubis cordless (suffered the PSU failure that seems to be endemic to that model)
Chic Optical (wired) - great mouse, even better drivers, with a smart scroll function that worked far better than anything I've had before or since. The only make I'd consider now! Though the metallic finish has worn off, it still sits on the shelf as my standby.
