Under $100 for me. I bought an old PIII-box for 60€ from a friend, as I needed a development server for a web-programming project of mine. And a couple of ethernet cables to connect both my boxen to the 5-port switch I got for free from another friend (I've got great friends). That's all. It's funny how I haven't had any need for upgrades now that I can't really spare the time for playing games anymore...
I did buy a couple of rather pricey KEF speakers and a used Sony amp, and I do use them mainly for mp3's and the occasional movie, but I don't think they count as computer equipment.

I reckon about £3000 after you total up the items in my sig plus my other bit @n@ bobs and it's commission time again which means another grand to play with..whoohoo

Hmm, lets see, I bought the following hardware:
1 3.0 ghz computer for myself with the following: MSI MoBO, 512 MB 2100 Memory, 80 Gyg Harddrive and an extra 40 gyg hard drive, DVDRW, ATI 9600 Pro Graphics Card, 17" CRT Hyundai monitor, Wireless Keyboard and Optical Mouse, 3650 Printer from HP, 400 watt speaker set, 550 Watt Diablo Tek PSU and a Diablo Tek Deamon Case to put it in. ( I haven't even mentioned all the lights, whistles and belles for the case)
1 2.0 ghz computer for the misses with the following: PC MoBo, 512 mb 2100 memory, 2x 40 Gyg Harddrives, CDRW/DVD combo, ATI 9600 Pro Graphics Card, 17" CRT Micron Monitor, Keyboard & Mouse combo set, 3550 and g55 officejet (for pictures printing), 400 watt speaker set, 450 Watt PSU and a standard case.
Plus: 3 headphone sets, an extra 15" monitor (AOC) as back-up.
And all that for under $3000, just by using the Internet, getting everything as cheaply as possible, and being able to build my own computer (it's not as hard as you would think, then again, I have been toying with computers since 1980).
(Near) Future Items to buy (Within next 12 months): 2 x Sound Cards, 2x 17" Flat Screens (probably BenQ's), 2 x upgrade to 1 Ghz memory, at least one 200 Gyg HDD, and after that, a totally new system based on the Intel 925 chipset (for me offcourse). Life is looking VERY Beautiful!!!

Hope that didn't include games and other software. As if it did, it would be well over $1,000. If we are just talking hardware, then between $800 and $1,001 is about right. (99% of that graphics cards)
Oh yeah...I also bought a WD 80GB HDD (2MB cache) at about $90, plus more cooling fans...plus...
Can I change my vote to between $1,001-$1500?
